Mat’s

I’m a music composer as well as a painter and I live in Moorea, next to Tahiti in Polynesia.

Influenced by my several trips across the Miiddle East, Europe, Melanesia and Polynesia, I’m looking for inspiration through diverse cultures, differences, melting pot and the dayly display of nature.

I use keyboards, guitars and bass to compose, mix every kind of samples which are both modern and traditional at the same time.

An instrumental travel across an odd and enigmatic world where electronic and tribal sounds gather.

My first album ‘A light in the abyss’ (2006) was a mixture of various genres such as electronic music ,chill out, trip hop, dub, jungle ,metal, gothic, reggae, world music …

A multi influenced album of which several songs took advantage of the collaboration with other musicians such as Tematatoa (vocals), Bastien Buhagiar (didjeridoo), Mike Bacquet (guitar), Ange Andriot(vocals).

‘Roots and heights’ (2008), the second record, appears as a more accomplished album with warmer sounds, a mixture of electro and traditional south Pacific music, a tribute to the Polynesian culture from ancient times.

Various samples have been taken from Tahiti, hawaii, Marquisas islands, Austral islands, Samoa …and many more. Slices of ‘himene’, ‘tarava’, which are traditionnal songs, can be heard over electric guitarlandcapes, ‘toeres’ (percussions), electronic beats, …, a willing to inovate while getting the best from our roots.
